About the Lab
The Cognitive Neuroscience Lab opened at the beginning of 2007.
It was created for the development of the multilevel research (with
ERPs as main technique). The core idea of the laboratory is that
cognition is not only situated in the language but also in affectivity,
intersubjectivity, and mind ecology from an empirical multilevel
approach. From this view we focus on cognitive sciences and
neuropsychiatry for the study of contextual cues, language coordination
and non-linguistic information, decision making and semantic valence
integration, facial expression processing and social cues.
We are currently conducting ERP studies concerning the modulation of pragmatic and contextual cues of language (N400, LPP, LPC), the socio-neuroscience of racial cues (VPP and N170 components in semantic valence integration and face recognition of different ethnic groups), decision-making in economic gains of gambling contexts (ERN and CNV), modulation of emotional valence pictures (LPP), and the search of endophenotypes and cognitive biomarkers for neuropsychiatric populations (N400, P300, N400-like among others)..
